Whew! It’s getting to be that time of year when it gets busy, busy, busy! The countdown to Christmas has begun – only nine more days till the big day. I hope you’re ready!

Get well wishes go out to Nikki Bell who spent a few days in the hospital a week ago. What she thought was a horrible flu ended up being a case of viral meningitis. Thankfully she is home, feeling better and recovering nicely. Hope your feeling better, Nikki!

Speaking of the Bells, congratulations go out to Woodie Bell, Dean’s father, who was recently inducted into the Nevada Cattlemen’s Association 100,000 Miles in the Saddle Club. Woodie was inducted on November 16. After reading the induction announcement, it was quite an honor and one that he truly deserves.

I, like many other folks, are having the dreaded NFR withdrawals this week. I love watching the NFR 10 nights in a row on TV with my Christmas tree lights on and a fire roaring in the fireplace. It’s always a letdown the first few days after the rodeo is over.

Many South County folks headed to Vegas to see the NFR in person. Some of those traveling there for a few days of fun included Audra Mendonsa and a whole lot of her students who were participating in the dummy roping contests, Andy and Tamra Barrington, Hec and Kasey Hurley, Vicki and Colleen Sabin, John and Kyla Rianda, Dean and Nikki Bell and JW and Candace Brewen, just to name a few.

Jim and Betty Barrington were in Salinas a few days ago to get some shopping done, and when they came out of Costco with a huge cart full of supplies, to their surprise, their car was missing! The only thing left in their parking space was a whole lot of glass from their rear windshield. Somebody broke their window and stole their car and their dog right along with it. Fortunatly the police were able to spot the car later in the day and when they pulled the car over, two people were inside with a loaded pistol. Who knows what they were up to? Thankfully, the thieves must have dropped the dog off in the parking lot next to Costco as the dog was found curled up on the door step of Petco. The police had to hold the car for evidence and insurance purposes but at least Jim and Betty got their dog back safe and sound.

We got a nice little shot of rain last Sunday evening. Thank goodness, too. It was getting a little too dry down here. We only got .10 inches but it will hold us over for a little while.

Happy Birthday wishes go out to our baby of the family, Brody, who turned 15 on Dec. 13. I guess we can’t call him the baby anymore! Time sure does fly.

Have a great week everyone, and be sure to give me a call or e-mail me at we********@ao*.com with any news you’d like to share.
