San Benito County Spelling Bee champs announced
More than 50 local students in grades fourth through eighth
competed in the San Benito County spelling bee. Students
participated in the elementary school spell off March 16 and the
junior high school students competed March 18.
The event is sponsored by the San Benito County Office of
Education.

Second Place: Hayden Alvernaz, a seventh grader from Spring Grove School

Third Place: Odessa Van Order, an eighth grader from Willow Grove School

Fourth Place: Lauren Hemingway, an eighth grader from Southside School.

First Place: Andrew Pearson a fifth grader from the Accelerated Achievement Academy at Calaveras School

Second Place: Emily Flosi, a fifth grader from Southside School
