The county’s latest monthly figures – for March – had 61 notices of default and a total of 164 properties in some stage of foreclosure. Those numbers were released along with the quarterly figures. Last month, San Benito County had the 12th-worst foreclosure rate in California, according to RealtyTrac.
The county’s quarterly numbers are down slightly, by 1.7 percent, compared to the same time frame in 2009, according to the report. Compared with the last quarter of 2009, however, the local figures took a bigger drop, by 9.5 percent.
The state as a whole had the fourth-worst foreclosure rate in the country during the first quarter of the year, according to RealtyTrac, when there were more than 83,000 notices of default issued.
