‘Willy Wonka’
The San Benito Stage Company performance of “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factor” runs April 16 through May 1 at the Granada Theatre, in Hollister. Shows are April 23,24, 30 and May 1 at 7 p.m. and April 18 and 25 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15 for children and $12 for seniors. Every show will have a golden ticket hidden in the candy sold at intermission. Eight winners will receive a tour of Marich Confectionery at a later date and one lucky winner will receive a year’s supply of candy. The Veterans of Foreign Wars San Juan Post No. 6359 is hosting a Derby Day Party on May 1, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at 58 Monterey St., in San Juan Bautista. Indian market and peace pow
The 26th annual Indian market and peace pow wow will be May 1 and 2, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., at the San Juan School parking lot on the Alameda. The event will included fine arts and crafts, dancers, drums and native food. Donations of $1 are requested to support Peace Vision, Inc. art projects. Gavilan Kennel Club dog show
The Gavilan Kennel Club will hold its annual two-day dog show and companion dog events (Obedience and Rally) May 1 and 2, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m, at Bolado Park. Admission is free and the public is welcome. There is a nominal parking fee. No un-entered dog is allowed on the grounds. San Benito County sheriff’s officers will be in attendance this year providing information and education to the public on the use of dogs in law enforcement. Saturday will include the confirmation show as well as obedience and rally events. Sunday will be the judging, including a Best In Show award.

‘A Walk Through History’
The Friends of the Gilroy Hot Springs will be hosting “A Walk Through History,” May 1, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Gilroy Hot Springs, a part of Henry Coe State Park. Entrance fees are $5 for adults and teens. Kids under 12 are free with an adult. An optional tour is available. Parking is free, but limited so carpooling is suggested. Opera San Jose will be showing “La rondine (The Swallow)” April 24 through May 9, at the California Theatre, 345 South First St., in downtown San Jose. The opera by Giacomo Puccini follows the beautiful mistress of a wealthy Parisian banker when she tries to recapture magic by running off with a young man who reminds her of a handsome stranger she met long ago. Benefit Concert
The San Benito High School Associated Student Body is holding a benefit concert for Haiti and the beneficiary of this year’s Benefit Ball, May 8, at 7 p.m. at the San Benito High School stadium. The event will feature professional recording artists, bands and dancers as well as a small fashion show. The doors will open at 6 p.m.

Country Garden Tour
The Aromas Country Garden Tour is May, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be a showcase of work done by landscape designers and gardeners. There will be several gardens and relevant sights to be seen at the event. There will also be local artists displaying their work in the majority of the gardens. Choirs perform together
The Peninsula Women’s Chorus and Golden Gate Men’s Chorus will perform a joint program at two locations in the Bay Area. San Benito High School students will be participating in “Arts Out Loud,” a celebration of student achievement in the arts, May 16, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., at the San Benito High School Auditorium.
