California Highway Patrol officer Erica Elias shows a parent how to properly install a child safety seat at the annual car seat check-up hosted by the CHP, First 5 San Benito and San Benito County Child Injury Prevention.

The San Benito County Child Injury Prevention, First 5 San
Benito and the California Highway Patrol once again hosted a car
seat check-up April 29, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., in the K-Mart
parking lot.
Staff helped families learn how to safely install booster seats,
convertibles and infant seats. Cars lined up in the parking lot to
wait their turn to meet with a volunteer or staff member who would
show them how to properly install the car seats. Some families
waited for close to two hours for their chance to purchase a
low-cost car seat and to learn how to properly install the
seats.
The low-cost car seats were available for purchase with proof of
income in the form of a WIC card, a Medi-cal card or pay stubs.
