Pat Turturici remained in a strong lead for the sheriff race after the latest results released minutes ago and continues bordering on an outright victory in the primary, while the two incumbents running for supervisor continue heading toward defeat, according to unofficial results from the elections office.
Polls closed at 8 p.m., after which the local office counted vote-by-mail ballots. A second round of results were released at about 9:50 p.m., while the rest of the numbers will be given out intermittently as precincts’ ballots come in and have been counted.
The latest results revealed that Turturici had gained 49.4 percent of the votes, with Darren Thompson having 23.2 percent, Ray Wood at 16 percent and Robert Scattini at 11.1 percent. Turturici had 2,229 votes. Thompson had 1,046. Wood had 723. And Scattini had 502, according to the figures. There were 26 of 54 precincts counted.
In the race for District 3 supervisor, challenger Robert Rivas has kept his big lead over incumbent Pat Loe. Rivas gained 68.7 percent, with 711 votes. Loe had 31 percent, with 321 votes, according to the unofficial numbers. There were two of six precincts counted.
In District 4, both challengers are beating the incumbent. Phil Fortino had the lead with 45.4 percent, or 742 votes. Jerry Muenzer had 38.8 percent, or 634 votes. Incumbent Reb Monaco had 15.7 percent, or 256 votes, according to the office. There were 10 of 18 precincts counted.
If there are more than two candidates in a race, and if one of those candidates does not exceed 50 percent of the vote, the remaining two contenders vie in the November election.
All of the numbers are unofficial until a canvass after the election is done.
