Although Salinas’ Yujun Lee posted medalist honors with a five-over 41 on Thursday at the Ridgemark Golf and Country Club, the San Benito girls golf team still managed to properly defend its home turf with a 225-239 victory over the Cowboys in a Tri-County Athletic League dual meet.

The 225 is San Benito’s lowest of the season, and comes one match after it posted its previous season-low of 233 during a dual meet against Santa Catalina.

The key on Thursday for San Benito was having five of six golfers in the 40s, with a couple of golfers even knocking on the high-30s door.

Morgan DiDomenico carded a San Benito low of 42, while teammate Jordan Davies followed with a 43.

Meanwhile, Emiley Palmquist recorded a 45 on the “Original Front 9” (holes 1 and 11-18 of the Gabilan Course), while Lexi Branon shot a 47 and Nicole Rianda a 48 to round out the team.

LaShea Dailey also recorded a 53 for the Balers on Thursday.

Head coach Chris Branon said Santa Catalina defeated Stevenson as well earlier this week, meaning each team in the TCAL has at least one loss.

San Benito will host both Stevenson and Notre Dame on Monday at the Ridgemark Golf and Country Club. Tee time is 3 p.m.

“That’s a huge match for us,” Branon said.
