Hatzenruhler graduates from CHP cadet training
WEST SACRAMENTO
– Derek Hatzenruhler, of Hollister, has successfully completed
California Highway Patrol cadet training. He was assigned to duty
at the CHP’s Castro Valley Area Office.
Hatzenruhler was a 1999 graduate of San Benito High School. He
graduated from the University of California, Davis, with a degree
in economics. He worked as a manager at Tru Green Land Care prior
to joining the CHP.
Cadet training for Hatzenruhler included vehicle patrol,
accident investigation, first aid, apprehension, and arrest of
suspected violators, including those who drive under the influence
of alcohol or drugs. Training at the CHP Academy also included
traffic control, report writing, recovery of stolen vehicles,
assisting the motoring public, issuing citations, emergency scene
management and knowledge of various codes including the Vehicle
Code, the Penal Code and the Health and Safety Code.

SBHS teacher receives Honorary American Degree

HOLLISTER – Vera Gomes received an Honorary American Degree Oct. 22 at the National FFA Convention. The event, which had 55,000 FFA members and guest in attendance, was aired on RFD TV and SchoolTube.

Gavilan College announces spring Honor Roll

GILROY – Gavilan College has awarded Honor Roll for Spring 2010 to students who achieved a 3.5 or higher grade-point average in at least 15 units. The following students in San Benito County were honored:
