With 45 percent of precincts reporting, Thompson gained 55.2 percent of the vote to Turturici’s 44.4 percent. Thompson had 5,024 votes to 4,035 for Turturici, according to the latest results released at 10:25 p.m.
Thompson, a Watsonville police lieutenant, and Turturici, the undersheriff, are vying to succeed Sheriff Curtis Hill.
