A resident recently complained that the area of Sunset Drive
between Airline Road and Memorial Drive has not been fully
repaired
– that it was only partially repaved – since construction work
was done there related to the new emergency room at the hospital,
to connect utilities as part of the project.
City public works official David Rubcic reported back that some
water lines were damaged and it lifted the asphalt, and that the
city has requested the hospital to provide repairs.

Hazel Hawkins Hospital’s contractor is completing work on the new E.R. The new facility is expected to have capacity to serve as many as 30,000 patients a year in 14,000 square feet of space, more than doubling the size of the existing emergency room.
