The San Benito High boys basketball team opened the Condor Christmas Classic with a convincing 73-28 victory against host North Monterey County on Monday night.

Head coach Tracy Carpenter said all 15 players saw action in the first quarter, with the Balers controlling a sizable 40-21 lead at halftime.

No box score was provided at press time.

The Balers are now 3-6 overall on the year, and have won two straight games since dropping six in a row earlier this season.

As for North County, the Condors remain winless on the season, and haven’t seen much luck against teams from the Tri-County Athletic League. North County previously lost to Gilroy 78-19, fell to North Salinas 72-30, and suffered a loss to Salinas by a 65-7 margin.

San Benito, meanwhile, will return to the Condor Christmas Classic on Tuesday night when it will play in the semifinal round against Anderson High, which located just south of Redding. The two teams will tip-off at 8 p.m.

Anderson (6-6) defeated Soledad 46-32 on Monday night.

In the other semifinal game, Salinas and Seaside will square off.
