School district declines funding of gang position

Should locals expect new meters?

Hollister is set to consider replacing all city-operated water meters to radio-read meters while also outsourcing the mailing of utility bills. City Manager Clint Quilter said the council at 6 p.m. tonight will consider switching to new meters that can be read by radio signals to help with the city’s transition to a monthly billing schedule. Monthly billing is scheduled to start April 1. The Free Lance will have coverage of that and other items on the meeting’s agenda.

What’s next for the gang coordinator position?

Now that San Benito High School has declined to partially fund the new gang coordinator role, while trustees say they are supportive and want to be involved with the role, how will local agencies move ahead with recruitment of the new person? Also, how will the funding structure work without the school district involved? The Free Lance will have answers this week.
