TAGI performs Chamber Music Monterey Bay will present the acclaimed chamber ensemble TAGI today at 8 p.m. at the Sunset Center, at San Carlos Street and 9th Avenenu, in Carmel. The ensemble includes a violin, cello, piano and clarinet. A pre-concert lecture by Jean Widaman is 7-7:30 p.m. in studio 105 at the Sunset Center. The program will include Stravinsky’s “A Soldier’s Tale”, Brahms’ Trio Op. 114, Shostakovich’s Prelude #24 and Tschaikovsky’s Piano Trio in A minor. Tickets are $29-52. Living History at San Juan Bautista State Historic Park. Meet the characters of early California. Costumed docents portray mountain men, Civil War soldiers, Victorian ladies and gentlemen, and much more. Watch cooking and craft demonstrations. Valentine’s Day Concert The Bay Area Men’s Chorus, Sine Nomine and the Seventh-Day Adventist School Chime Choir will be performing at the Holister Adventist Church, 2121 Sunnyslope Road in the “God’s Love Set to Music” concert. Science comes to life Registration is available for the annual Science Alive conference to be held at Gavilan College today from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The day of workshops is available to middle school students in grades 6-8. The workshops offer hands-on enrichment for math, science and computers. There are 20 workshops from which to choose including crystal growing, GavTV, Slime Time, The Secret Life of Strawberries and more. The event is presented by the Gavilan College Math Engineering and Science Achievement Program, the math department and the education foundation. Presenters include college professors, students and others working in the science fields. Parents may also attend workshops on financing college and how to prepare their children for college. A $10 registration fee is required, and allows students to participate in three workshops, lunch and a keynote lecture by Astronaut Daniel Bursch. “Così Fan Tutte” Opera San Jose will open its 25th season with its presentation of “Così Fan Tutte,” by Mozart beginning tonight at 8 p.m. and running weekends through Sunday, Feb. 22 at its opera house, 2149 Paragon Dr. Sung in Italian with English supertitles, “Così Fan Tutte” is both a comedy and tragedy, telling the story of a group of young lovers willing to wager on their partner’s fidelity.

Chowder cook-off The 28th Annual Clam Chowder Cook-off will be held today from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. Teams of chowder chefs from all over the West Coast will be competing for the title of “Best Clam Chowder” by cooking their best red or white chowder. Admission is free. Tasting kits are available for $8 per person. The competition includes three divisions: Professional (restaurants, caterers, food service), Individual and Corporate/Media. Path of the Padres. San Luis Reservoir State Recreation Area will be again leading the popular “Path of the Padres” hikes on some Fridays and most Saturdays and Sundays.
