Go Kids, a large nonprofit serving South County families for over 30 years, received additional funding from the California Department of Education to expand its existing preschool services.

The new programs will be available in Gilroy and Hollister to serve families who are looking for preschool education for their 3- and 4-year-old children.

“Go Kids provides a great developmentally appropriate program at three sites in the area,” said Cathy Boettcher, deputy director of Go Kids. “The additional funding allows us to provide scholarships to families who need help with the tuition.”

The new preschool classes will be from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., September through June, at the Los Arroyos and Ochoa centers in Gilroy and the Fairview Center in Hollister.

“The goal of our program is to prepare children for kindergarten and provide a safe and loving environment for them to learn and have fun,” said Program Director Kelly Mercurio. “Our staff is credentialed, and we have a low ratio of eight children to one Teacher. This new funding will allow us to provide these great services to many more families who have been waiting for additional preschool spaces in the south county area.”
