Will Cross medaled with a par-35 and the San Benito High boys golf team defeated host King City 203-254 Thursday at the King City Golf Course.

San Benito’s score was nine strokes higher than the 194 they posted from Monday at Corral de Tierra in Salinas, and although the Haybalers easily defeated King City by 51 strokes, head coach Reggie Synegal is seeking a more consistent product on the course.

“I’m not trying to make excuses but it was cold and a little windy,” Synegal said. “But even under those conditions, they defintely have to pick things up.

“We definitely have to play better than that as a team.”

Cross’ 35 was par on the front nine at King City Golf Course, while Nathan Winn, who helped pace San Benito on Monday at Corral with a 37, was absent from the match and was involved with a prior school commitment.

San Benito’s Justin Palmquist shot a 40, Marcus Synegal carded a 41, Joey Amaral recorded a 44 and and Diego Navarro rounded out the scoring with a 45.

‘Baler Blake Stevens contributed with a 47.

San Benito will play King City again on Tuesday when the Mustangs visit Hollister’s Ridgemark Golf and Country Club. Tee time is 3 p.m.
