Caltrans has scheduled a scoping meeting in Gilroy on Tuesday that will provide details and maps for an upcoming safety improvement project on Highway 152, according to a press release from the state agency. The proposed project on the Hecker Pass Highway will be just east of Pole Line Road to Watsonville Road.
The open house will be at the Gilroy Police Department Community Room located at 7301 Hanna St.
According to Caltrans, the proposed SR 152 project, just east of Pole Line Road to Watsonville Road, will widen the existing lanes and shoulders and overlay the existing pavement to assist motorists to negotiate sharp turns. Warning signs would be installed as required. Retaining walls would also be constructed at twelve areas to minimize right of way requirements and thereby limit impacts to the surrounding environment. A left-turn lane would be added on eastbound SR 152 at the Watsonville Road intersection, and trees would be removed creating a clear recovery zone adjacent to the roadway.
Interested members of the community can attend the open house scheduled to run from 5 p.m. through 8 p.m.
