San Benito County voters followed the trend of statewide residents by voting no on five of the six propositions at the polls Tuesday.
Of the six measures, the only one to pass was proposition 1F, which will disallow pay raises for lawmakers and state officials to get pay raises when the state is running a budget in the red.
There were no local ballot measures, meanwhile, on the ballot. The following are unofficial results in San Benito County:
– Proposition 1A, would have limited state spending and increased “rainy day” funds, prompted 66 percent of San Benito County voters to vote no, while 66 percent of the state voted no on this measure.
– Proposition 1B, would have helped fund schools to pay for teachers in light of budget shortfalls and was the closest race in the county, prompted 60 percent of county voters to oppose it, while 63 percent of the state voted no on this measure.
– Proposition 1C, would have modernized the state lottery by borrowing from future lottery profits, was voted down by county voters with 64 percent against it, while 65 percent of the state voted no on this measure.
– Proposition 1D, would have protected money designated for child services, was voted down by a 68 percent no margin in the county, while 66 percent of the state also voted against it.
– Proposition 1E, would have protected mental health services funding, prompted 67 percent of local voters to oppose it, while 66 percent of the state voted no on this measure.
– Proposition 1F, which will not allow lawmakers and state officials to receive pay raises during deficit years, was approved by 81 percent of San Benito County voters. The state approved the measure with 74 percent in favor.
