Is drainage dip a nuisance on Cushman?
About a block south of Nash Road on Cushman Street, at the
intersection of Andrews Drive, the city repaved the road and
installed a drainage gutter running from one side of the street to
the other a couple years ago. Although the purpose was to keep the
street cleared of water in rainy times, one resident in the
neighborhood complained to the Pinnacle that the dip created by the
street work has caused more of a nuisance than anything.
Is drainage dip a nuisance on Cushman?

About a block south of Nash Road on Cushman Street, at the intersection of Andrews Drive, the city repaved the road and installed a drainage gutter running from one side of the street to the other a couple years ago. Although the purpose was to keep the street cleared of water in rainy times, one resident in the neighborhood complained to the Pinnacle that the dip created by the street work has caused more of a nuisance than anything.

The resident notes in an e-mail that when the city repaved that section of the road, near Java Express and Gold’s Gym, the intended purpose wasn’t fulfilled, and that it “doesn’t drain the way it should.” Instead, since the water evaporates so rapidly there, within two to three days usually, it serves as more of a concern for drivers than a drainage tool.

Ray Rojas, the city’s streets supervisor, could not be reached for comment before Pinnacle press time over this area of Cushman Street. The Pinnacle will be sure to check back with the city and get a response to the resident’s complaint.
