Private Rodney Garcia was deployed to Afghanistan Aug. 31 for a 15 month tour. He is part of the 82nd Airborne/Infantry Division of the United States Army at Ft. Bragg, N.C. Garcia completed very intense combat and survivor skills training, as well as paratrooper training.

Garcia, of Gilroy, is the son of Rogelio Garcia and Paula Orosco; brother of Jacqueline Cherry, Catherine Aguilar, Lori Salgado, Rogelio Garcia Jr. and Laura; uncle of Shantel, Johnny, Richard, Justin, Rogelio III, Julian, Richelle, Ryan, Shyriah and Angel; and sweetheart of Edlin Carranza, all of Gilroy.

Kyle Carbajal

Kyle Carbajal completed 21 merit badges and built 13 planter boxes for the Charter School of Morgan Hill to earn his Eagle Scout rank advancement. Kyle is the 80th Eagle Scout to come from Troop 799. The Bronze Palm required an additional five merit badges and a leadership role in the troop.

Kyle, son of Kevin and Juracia Carbajal of Morgan Hill, is a student at Ann Sobrato High School.

ANNIVERSARY

Mancinis celebrate 30 years

Bob and Barbara Mancini, of Morgan Hill, recently celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary.

The couple traveled to Italy – visiting Venice and Cortina. While in Venice, they frequented San Marco square, the Rialto bridge, Torcello island and attended the opera La Traviata. In Cortina, they explored the Dolomites, visited Lago di Misurina and rode three ski trams to the top of the Tofana peak. Along the way, they saw many interesting sights and met wonderful people.

The Mancinis were married Aug. 4, 1979.
