Fall starts on a hot note in South County
It’s hard to believe that it is officially fall; in case you
didn’t know, fall began on Tuesday. Before you know it,
Thanksgiving and Christmas will be here. Even though it is
officially fall, Mother Nature is still giving us a huge dose of
Indian summer. It’s just plain hot out here. I am definitely ready
for some real fall weather.

It’s hard to believe that it is officially fall; in case you didn’t know, fall began on Tuesday. Before you know it, Thanksgiving and Christmas will be here. Even though it is officially fall, Mother Nature is still giving us a huge dose of Indian summer. It’s just plain hot out here. I am definitely ready for some real fall weather.

Many South County residents headed down to Parkfield last Saturday for the wedding of Dudley Brinnan and Amanda Portoundo. If you thought it was hot here, you should have been there! At least the wedding was in the late afternoon so it was a little cooler and by sundown, it was really nice. Some of those enjoying the day from South County included Colleen and Vickie Sabin, Casey Sabin and Krista McNitch, Hec and Kasey Hurley, Mike and Brandi Garza, Matt, Tim and Kate Hearne (Dana was home with the baby), Barney and Irene Bray and Nessen Schmidt and Val Bassetti, just to name a few. There were so many people there and it was such a nice day. Amanda looked beautiful and Dud looked so handsome. Congratulations, guys!

The San Benito County Fair Junior Rodeo and Ranch Rodeo will take place this weekend at Bolado Park. The junior rodeo is on Saturday and the Ranch Rodeo is on Sunday. Both events begin at 9 a.m. There will be a barbecue tri-tip dinner, catered by the 19th Hole on Saturday night on the patio at Bolado Park. During dinner there will be a Calcutta for all the ranch rodeo teams participating on Sunday.

Cafe Ella in Hollister is featuring art work that was done by students at Jefferson and Panoche Schools last spring. The work will be on display for at least one month.

Kathy Watson, the art teacher for both schools, has been teaching the students for several years. The art program at both schools has been partially funded by the E-Cubed Foundation. Be sure to stop by Cafe Ella to check out the student artwork.

Speaking of the E-Cubed Foundation, they will have a booth at the San Benito County Fair next week. Besides sharing what the foundation is about, they will also be providing past history on many local, rural schools. Be sure to stop by their booth to see what the E-Cubed Foundation is all about and to learn a little history on your local school.

Lastly birthday wishes go out to my Mom who celebrated her birthday Sept. 16. Happy birthday, Mom!
