Assemblywoman Anna Caballero is set to officially announce her candidacy for the District 12 Senate seat at a press conference Thursday, according to a press release.
Caballero, the Salinas Democrat who represents San Benito County, will announce her bid at 5 p.m. Thursday at the Fox Theater on Main Street in Salinas.
Caballero also will give an update on the public hearing on California’s water crisis that she is attending in Washington, D.C, on Wednesday, according to the statement.
Caballero in announcing her candidacy will attempt to win the seat held by Republican Jeff Denham, who is running for lieutenant governor.
