Community wildfire protection meetings
The San Benito County Fire Safe Council, with grant funding from the Bureau of Land Management, is funding a series of public meetings throughout the county.
The first will be held at the San Benito County Fairgrounds on Hwy. 25 on Wednesday, Oct. 28 at 6:30 p.m. Other meetings are scheduled for Nov. 11 at the San Juan Bautista Fire Station and Nov. 18 at the Aromas Grange Hall, both at 6:30 p.m.
The meetings will address the Community Wildfire Protection Plan being developed for the county. Public input is being sought to better understand the vulnerability to wildfire of county residents, businesses and resources.
The plan is designed to promote awareness of the wildland fire hazards and to propose solutions to reduce the risk of such fires.
The meetings will include a brief slideshow by the contractor responsible for developing the plan.
For more information about the meetings, or the plan, contact the San Benito Fire Safe Council at 623-1677.
