Funds go to students studying in health-related fields
Every year, the Hazel Hawkins Hospitals Auxiliary works hard to
raise money to provide scholarships for students in health related
fields. Over a span of 55 years the Auxiliary has awarded a total
of $123,150 in scholarships. This year, they awarded $20,000 to 10
recipients who are students studying to be physician assistants,
nurses and bio-medical engineers.

Every year, the Hazel Hawkins Hospitals Auxiliary works hard to raise money to provide scholarships for students in health related fields. Over a span of 55 years the Auxiliary has awarded a total of $123,150 in scholarships. This year, they awarded $20,000 to 10 recipients who are students studying to be physician assistants, nurses and bio-medical engineers.
Eight of the ten recipients are currently enrolled in nursing programs. Megan Jones and Maria Ortega are attending the Gavilan College Nursing Program; Andrea Meyer is pursuing her nursing studies at San Jose State University; Virginia Hernandez is completing her degree through the California State University, Dominguez Hills nursing program and Esmeralda Guzman is attending Boston Reed College. Clover Silva and Amy Vega-Perreira are enrolled in the nursing program at Hartnell College in Salinas and Stephanie Mauro is attending San Diego State University School of Nursing.
Nicole Wilson is attending UC Davis Medical School and studying to become a physician assistant and Jacklyn Whitehead is studying to become a Bio-Medical Engineer at California Lutheran University.
The Auxiliary congratulates each recipient for their hard work and wishes them well for the upcoming school year.
