Besides the obvious answers, like youth, strength and power,

good fundamentals – which we all can have.

Besides the obvious answers, like youth, strength and power, which we all can’t miraculously have, professional golfers have good fundamentals – which we all can have.
One of the prime fundamentals to hitting the ball long is to get the right elbow into the “slot.”
Where do I find this slot? For righties, the power slot is achieved when you pull your right elbow directly down toward your right hip as you are on the downswing. This should be one motion with the arms and legs working together.
This can be practiced anywhere, and you don’t even need a club. Simply grip your hands together, straighten your left arm and assume a position with your right elbow bent and pointing toward your left hip. Now practice with the left arm pulling the right elbow down toward your right hip, with your hips transfering weight laterally toward the target. Your knees should be bent and as you transfer your weight to your left leg, you will roll slightly onto your right instep.
Do this drill consistently and you will be hitting longer drives in no time.
