Barone’s Baseball will have its grand opening on Nov. 7 at its new location at 281 East San Felipe Road in Hollister.
Barone’s Baseball offters pitching lessons, hitting lessons, batting cages and a lounge with TV and Wi-fi. Fastpitch baseball and softball machines are also available.
The grand opening, which will be held from 1 to 6 p.m., will have food and drinks, a jump house and raffle tickets.

Former Baler earns honors in the pool
Former Haybaler and Lewis University freshman Brandon Drogemuller was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference’s Male Swimmer of the Week for his strong debut against Grand Valley State on Oct. 24.
The 2009 San Benito High graduate won both the 1,000 and 500 freestyle events after clocking a pair of NCAA B times. Drogemuller won the 500 in 4:41.74, while his 9:30.77 in the 1,000 set a pool record at Lewis University.
“Obviously we’re very excited for Brandon,” head coach Steve Thompson said in a statement. “We had high expectations for him coming into the season and we expect him to continue toward great things. It was a great way to start his career.”
New club volleyball team holding tryouts
The Hollister Crush club volleyball team will conduct tryouts for the 2009-2010 season on Nov. 7 and 14 at Spring Grove School in Hollister.
The Crush, which was created for the 2010 season, is looking for dedicated girls who love to play volleyball and are looking for a place to belong and become part of a team. There will be four team divisions (12U, 14U, 16U, 18U).
Players aged 10- to 14-years-old will tryout from 9 to 11 a.m., while players aged 15- to 18-years-old will tryout from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Spring Grove is located at 500 Spring Grove Road in Hollister.
Cost is $15, and each girl will receive a Crush volleyball T-shirt.

Big Sur half marathon slated for Nov. 15
The Big Sur Half Marathon on Monterey Bay will take place on Nov. 15 in downtown Monterey and Pacific Grove.
Approximately 7,000 runners and walkers will participate in a 13.1-mile half marathon and 10-mile event along the scenic Monterey Bay coastline with live music along the course. A Health and Fitness Expo will take place Nov. 13 and 14 at the Monterey Conference Center and two smaller races for children and families will take place on Nov. 14 from Cannery Row to Pacific Grove.

Bolado Park announces junior golf program
Bolado Park Golf Club announced the Junior Bolado Ball Bashers Club, a golf program open to juniors 17 years of age or younger.
The program includes junior golf clinics, select free range-ball days, reduced rates for select play-days on the course and junior tournaments. Cost is $25 for membership.

Soccer team to host alumni game
The San Benito High boys soccer program will host an alumni game on Nov. 28 at the SBHS varsity soccer field at 11 a.m.
Cost is $30 for alumni and sign-up is limited to the first 20 players. Price includes a T-shirt and refreshments. All proceeds will go to the Baler Backers program.
