Within a couple of weeks, a business called Monte Carlo has plans to open at the former location of The Vault, at Fifth and San Benito streets.
The night club and restaurant business – with locations in Mountain View and Seattle – recently agreed to terms on a deal with property owner Ignacio Velazquez. The Vault, which first opened 10 years ago, closed two weeks ago when the agreement was made, Velazquez said.
The new business owners already have started making some changes to the inside, such as tearing down the center walls, to create some more space. Monte Carlo likely will open next week or the week after, said co-owner Steve Savinovic.
His family has big plans for the new location. He noted how the business primarily caters to a Latino audience, which helped draw them to Hollister. The bottom floor will be used for dinner and what Savinovic described as a “lot of concerts.” It will start off with just dinner, while adding a lunch menu later, he said. The top floor is planned for banquets, he said.
Savinovic pointed out how the night club portion of the business will be open starting at 10 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays.
The Vault had employed six people, said Velazquez, noting how some will stay with the new business while others will move on. The property owner also pointed out plans to replace the painted mural sign on the building with a new one for Monte Carlo. He said he needed to talk to city officials about the move.
“It’s nice to move on,” Velazquez said. “I’m excited because I like their energy. I know they know what they’re doing.”
