Don’t ride with friends who’ve been drinking
Dear Lindsay,
My parents are going out of town in a couple weeks and I told a
few of my friends they could come over. Now people I don’t even
know are coming up to ask for my address. What should I do?

Dear Lindsay,

-Party Pooper Problem
Dear Party Pooper Problem,
Obviously these friends that you invited said something to let everyone know. Tell the random strangers who are asking for your address that the party is cancelled. Let your friends know that whoever told someone that didn’t need to know that your parents won’t be home that it was just going to be a small get together, not a full blown-out party. Maybe not having anyone over would be best.
Dear Lindsay,
I am a senior and so far I have received a couple rejection letters from colleges, including one from my top choice school. I am so upset about it and I don’t know what to do if I don’t get in anywhere. What should I do?
-Rejected
Dear Rejected,
Everyone gets at least one rejection from a college, and I’m truly sorry your number one was one those. But the chances of you not getting into any colleges are pretty slim to none. Don’t let it discourage you. The fact that you want to go to college is good enough. Just keep applying. Apply to a CSU instead of a UC. Or go to a community college and transfer from there. Some colleges also reject people because they have too many people applying. Whatever the reason for your rejections, keep your head up. You’ll go to school – count on it.
Dear Lindsay,
My best friend just started taking an anti-depressant. Since then, she just doesn’t seem like herself and she seems extra moody. Is this normal?
-Scared of Mood Swings
Dear Scared,
The mood swings are completely normal. Until her body gets used to them, moodiness, as well as other side effects will come into play. As well as emotional effects, there will be physical ones too. She could feel sick at times and be sleep deprived. She’ll need a friend to understand more than anything. Just stand by her during this time in her life.
Dear Lindsay,
I went to a party with my boyfriend last week and he had several beers. He kept saying he was totally okay to drive home, but it made me really uncomfortable. I had a friend take me home. What should I do in the future?
-Party Goer
Dear Party Goer,
You did the absolute right thing by not letting him take you home. No matter how much alcohol consumption, just one wrong move could cause disaster. The majority of car accidents are alcohol related, and more than half of them are fatal. Next time, make sure you drive so you can tell your boyfriend that he can drink and you won’t. Taking turns can always help. If you don’t drive, then make sure you have another sober driver take the both of you home.
