Group plans to offer sponsorships and artists, also pursues food
stamp option
HOLLISTER
After closing early in 2007, the Downtown Hollister Farmers’ Market hopes for a rejuvenation in 2008 and plans to offer business sponsorships, art and possibly an option to buy items with food stamps.
The farmers’ market committee has started planning this year’s weekly events. The committee announced in its newsletter that it has applied to the state for allowing customers to use food stamps. It also plans to try bringing in local artists, as the theme has worked well at other Central Coast farmers’ markets. And businesses can buy sponsorships, which include booth space for the entire season.
The farmers’ market runs Wednesdays during the summer starting May 21. Its organizers had hoped to extend the gathering through September last year, but sales trailed off and the group closed in August.
