Where to find it: It’s Happy Bunny – www.itshappybunnybooks.com
Who runs the site: The site is run by Jim Benton, the cartoonist/author who created the wicked little bunny who has no qualms about saying what we all wish we could from time to time. Benton has created other characters and books, such as “Franny K. Stein Mad Scientist” and “Dear Dumb Diary,” for middle schoolers as some of the Happy Bunny stuff is a little racy.
Who is likely to use the site: Fans of Jim Benton and Happy Bunny, or those who just want a laugh.
Pros: The little bunny with the nasty sense of humor first came to popularity years ago when T-shirts, stickers and even energy drinks started making an appearance in Hot Topic stores at malls everywhere. Unlike many trends that rely on ‘tween girls this one has survived the years and Happy Bunny can be found almost everywhere.
The site brings the same cute bunny with mean little sayings as the merchandise. The bunny says everything from, “You make me throw up a little,” to “I just realized I don’t care.”
The site is really a way to sell “It’s Happy Bunny” books, but it has some funny features for fans including horoscopes told Happy Bunny style. For instance, while the site says Leos are generous and creative, it also says they are “bossy, mean and think they are so cool …”
The site also has a happy bunny bowling game and e-cards.
Cons: The e-cards were a little hard to figure out at first. A co-worker and I thought they all had the same message on them, until we actually selected one of the cards and then realized there are a bunch of phrases to choose from, including Happy Bunny catch phrases such as “you make me throw up a little.”
Though the site has descriptions of different “It’s Happy Bunny” books, the books cannot be purchased through the site. To do that, users need to go to another site.
