A wet, wonderful weather system blew through the area last week, just what the doctored ordered for many South County ranchers. Birthday wishes go out to Tel Jones who celebrated a birthday last week and to John Brewen who was a little sore last week after a horse decided to crow hop with him down a steep hill. Birthday wishes also go out to Sarah Jessica Brewen who celebrated her birthday on the 25th and to Sarah Schmidt who celebrated on the 22nd.

Congratulations to the King City High Lady Mustangs basketball team for having such a great season. The gals ended their season last week in the second round of the CCS Playoffs in Pacifica. The girls played a great defensive game and only lost to a really good team by a mere 5 points. Many family and friends traveled to Pacifica along with the team on a chartered bus last Thursday afternoon. They all had a great time but are already looking forward to next year.

Congratulations also go out to the Bitterwater Badgers boys’ basketball team who finished their season last weekend at the Fairview Middle School Tournament in Gonzales. The boys went two and out in the tournament but not without putting up a fight. From the beginning of the season to the end, the boys progressively got better as a team and it showed.

A huge thank you to Coach Tamra Barrington for being such an awesome coach for the boys, they learned so much and thought she was a “cool” coach, especially after one “little incident!” Congrats to Chalone Peaks Middle School for being the tournament champs, if it couldn’t be Bitterwater, we’re glad it was you! Congrats also to Buddy Sans for being selected to the All Tournament team. The Lady Badgers will play in their final tournament next week in Paso Robles. Contact the school for times on those games. Good luck Lady Badgers; make us proud!

Brandi and Mike Garza are proud to announce the birth of their new daughter, Rebecca Lynn, who was born last Thursday, Feb. 21. Rebecca weighed in around 7 pounds and 19 inches. She has tons of black hair, just like her Dad! Congratulations guys!

Congratulations to Mike and Mary Ann Mallory on the celebration of their 30th wedding anniversary on the 25th. They spent it just how Mary Ann wanted to, shipping cows in Arizona … (Ha Ha!).

I was down for the count last week with some sort of spider or tick bite. Still not sure what it was, but I have been tested for Lyme disease. Wow, was that bite a doozie! I haven’t been that sick in ages! I never would have thought a person could get that sick from a bite, but, if you ever do get bit by something, don’t take it lightly! It was like the worst flu I’ve ever had but even worse than that! I’m much better this week though, thanks to all those calling to check up on me.

Have a great week and be sure to give me a call or e-mail me at we********@ao*.com with any news you’d like to share.
