Hollister voters may have approved a local sales tax measure last November, but that does not mean things will change overnight. The city’s public works staff is still operating at the skeleton crew level that it did before Measure T passed.

That’s why Marcelo Orta, the city’s parks supervisor, especially appreciates it when local citizens lend a hand.

The staff at Blossom Hill Winery in Paicines chipped in last Friday morning, May 16, to spruce up the southern entrance to Hollister along Airline Hwy. The group was at it for more than half the day, just as Hollister’s record-setting heat wave got started in earnest.

To learn more about helping out around town, Marcelo Orta can be reached at 636-4370.
