Karin Gonzales-McClellan is engaged to marry Kalil Cohen on July 6, 2008.
Karin, whose parents are Maria Santana and Michael McClellan, attended Glen View Elementary, South Valley Junior High and is a 1999 graduate of Gilroy High School. Karin is a LGBT civil rights advocate and is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in queer studies.
Kalil, whose parents are Monica and Bruce Devens, is governor and currently serving on the FTM International Board of Directors. Kalil received a bachelor’s degree in Latin American studies from Pomona College and will attend UCLA’s Social Justice Elementary School Education Program.
Karin and Kalil plan to marry July 6, 2008 in Topanga. The couple resides in Venice.
Roth/Renaghan
Katie Roth is engaged to marry Eric Renaghan on June 21, 2008.
Katie is the daughter of Tom and Marita Roth of Morgan Hill. She received a bachelor’s degree from California State University, Chico and a teaching credential from San Jose State University. She is currently an elementary school teacher in Morgan Hill.
Eric is the son of Don and Elizabeth Renaghan of Bend, Ore. He received a bachelor’s and master’s degree in kinesiology from San Jose State University. He is currently the pilates coordinator at Equinox in Palo Alto.
A sunset wedding ceremony and reception will be held at the Willow Heights Mansion in Morgan Hill on June 21. The couple will honeymoon in Puerto Vallarta and reside in Santa Clara.
HONORS
Trevor Wilcher
Trevor Wilcher from Gilroy High School has been accepted to attend Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, Ariz. in the fall of 2008. He will study aeronautical science. Trevor is the son of Denise and Ronald Wilcher.
Tonantzin Inez Mitre
Tonantzin Inez Mitre has received her master’s degree in urban policy analysis and management from The New School for Management and Urban Policy in New York.
Tonantzin is the daughter of Consuelo Espinosa and Robert B. Mitre, of Gilroy and Denver, Colo.
Joshua Arribere
Joshua Arribere, a 2004 Gilroy High School graduate, has graduated from the University of California, Berkeley. Joshua earned a bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics and a bachelor’s degree, with honors, in molecular and cell biology with an emphasis in genetics, genomics and development.
He is a Haas Scholar and won the Spencer W. Brown Award for his genetic research “Alternative Splicing and Fox Proteins in Zebrafish.”
Joshua will present his work at a conference this summer in Berlin and then will enter the doctorate program in biology at MIT in the fall.
