Another successful San Benito County Saddle Horse Show and Rodeo has come and gone. This year the Association celebrated its 75th year. Congratulations to all who helped produce another wonderful event and to all those who participated as well. It was a great weekend and enjoyed by all.
South County residents competing at last weekend’s rodeo included the Brewen family, the Barrington family, the Sabin family, the Sans family, Mike Garza and Vern and Jo Ann Scattini. Some of those I was able to visit with during the weekend included Lisa Smith, the Strohn family, Jeff and Shari Popnoe, Paul Wattis, Wyatt Bourdett and Lacey Taliaferro, Robbie Scattini, George and Sandy Rose, Nessen Schmidt and Val Bassetti, Stan and Jamie Pura, Bret Bonfantini, and Matt and Dana Hearne and their brand new little girl, Hollyn.
The infamous 19th Hole had its grand re-opening over the weekend and it was a huge success as well. It was standing room only both Friday and Saturday nights with live music and dancing. We had a great time Saturday and now we’re anxious to get back there to try out their lunch and dinner menu. Be sure to stop by and support the new 19th Hole; it looks like it may be the next new hot spot in town.
Birthday wishes go out to Casey Sabin, who celebrated his 35th birthday last Sunday at Bolado Park, and get well wishes go out to Hec Hurley, who had knee surgery last week.
Hope you all have a safe and Happy Fourth of July, and be sure to give me a call or e-mail me at
