Safeway Pharmacy Manager Hannah Sihoe holds up a poster to assist students in a game of Jeopardy involving questions about vitamins and minerals during the Health Squad Summer Camp in 2013.

The Youth Alliance based in Hollister and Santa Clara County is hosting its annual Health Squad day camp this week through Friday.
The camp teaches healthy living through nutrition education, interactive workshops, field trips and other activities, according to a statement from Youth Alliance.
It is being held at the Rancho Park Apartments from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
At 11 a.m. Thursday, the involved youth members will take a tour through Safeway grocery store with a nutritionist to “practically apply the education they have been receiving” through the camp. Political leaders are invited to take part in a photo opportunity at 11:30 a.m. at the site.
The camp, a partnership with the American Diabetes Association, involves children ages 10 to 14. It is a free day camp that teaches about a healthy lifestyle through exercise and nutrition. Some other activities include soccer, basketball and interactive lessons from a nutritionist.
Kids also take part in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) activities, multimedia projects and field trips. Safeway provides the camp with healthy lunch and snacks, according to a statement from Youth Alliance.
