Theft

Police responded on Thursday to a burglary in progress at Pacheco’s Liquors. Apparently, two suspects attempted the theft of a 30-pack of Budweiser when the store owner pulled a gun from behind the corner and ordered them to halt. One suspect fled, but Nicholas Mendez stopped. He was arrested by Hollister police when they arrived moments later and booked into county jail.

Possession of a dangerous weapon

Police officers made a traffic stop on Thursday that resulted in a short foot chase along the 900 block of Del Rio Court. The driver stopped after leading the police on the chase and surrendered. A subsequent search of his vehicle revealed a large knife wrapped in a sheet. He was booked into the San Benito County Jail.

Warrant

Police responding to a disturbance call along the 900 block of Versailles Drive detained a man involved in the altercation. After running his information, police discovered he had a warrant out of San Francisco County for having sex with a minor. The suspect was arrested and booked into county jail.

CRIME REPORTS

Object thrown from car

Police report that a vehicle traveling westbound Wednesday at 10:50 p.m. in the 8000 block of Highway 25 threw an unknown object into oncoming traffic. The object struck a victim’s car, chipping her windshield.

Sexual assault

Police received a report on Wednesday that seven years ago, a 15-year-old girl had sexual relations with a much older man. A suspect currently in Gilroy is a person of interest in the ongoing investigation.
