Ray Becker, the overseer of DMB Associates’ El Rancho San Benito project, died overnight. He was 59.

Becker and DMB came to San Benito County about four years ago and laid out the vision for a 6,800-unit community between Hollister and Gilroy.

Becker’s job as project manager was to oversee the project, learn potential components favored by residents here, and to promote its benefit before a likely voter by county citizens.
