We take a look at some of the biggest stories of the week. This
week: there is no timetable set for developing the Lowe’s project
and for the second time in October, the same house is hit by
fire. 1. ‘Suspicious’ fire burns home for second time in October
The second blaze in two days that the Hollister Fire Department considers “suspicious” occurred at 11 p.m. Wednesday night when the same Mission Oaks Mobile Home Park single-wide trailer that caught on fire Oct. 3 burned again, this time resulting in “complete property loss,” Capt. Bob Martindelcampo told the Free Lance.
In the previous fire that left the structure uninhabitable, the five occupants of the Mission Oaks home escaped injury as they were alerted to the fire by a smoke detector, and a man in the house got everyone out and called 911. Fire hydrants were not functioning at that time, but were “operating perfectly” for this blaze, said Martindelcampo.
