ARRESTS

Possession of a controlled substance, County Jail

Sheriff’s deputies responded to the San Benito County Jail on Friday after receiving reports of an inmate in possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. According to the report, the 33-year-old Hollister resident was entering his cell carrying his belongings when a correctional officer observed a small glass meth pipe fall from his items. The inmate claimed that the pipe was not his and that it had fallen from the cushion of a nearby chair, but the correctional officer noted that the cushion was sealed.

Possession, evading law enforcement

A 49-year-old Hollister parolee was arrested in the 100 block of Lane Street when he was contacted by law enforcement for a parolee check and was found in possession of a controlled substance. He was also arrested for evading law enforcement as he was hiding in his bedroom when deputies attempted initial contact. He was booked into the county jail.
