Want to know what the San Benito County Board of Supervisors (BOS) has been doing? Good luck.
Several meetings ago, County Administrative Officer, Ray Espinosa, recommended the minutes of the BOS Minutes just report on “significant” items that required a vote. Summaries of discussions, board announcements, or public comment need not be included. There was considerable discussion to maintain detailed minutes so the public can follow the activities of the BOS.
The BOS web page was consulted for more information. The item concerning the minutes was not on the August 4, 2015 agenda. It may have been on the agenda for an earlier meeting. There has not been sufficient time for the August 4 minutes to be posted.
A search of earlier BOS entries was futile. Every reference to BOS agendas and minutes have been deleted from the BOS web page for January through July 2015. Nothing. Not an entry. No electronic public record.
August through December 2014 did include “BOS Meeting” on the month’s page but there were no links to any details. The most recent entry was for July 22, 2014 and that was a cancellation notice.
Do not expect the Civil Grand Jury to investigate this matter. At the March 17, 2015 meeting, the BOS effectively muzzled the grand jury by eliminating all stipends for investigating activities per the San Benito County Grand Jury Report 2014-2015.
