HOLLISTER

The San Benito County Chamber of Commerce today announced winners of its annual awards for man, woman and ambassador of the year, along with five honors for businesses of the year.

The woman of the year for 2009 is Mari Davis. Among her many activities in the community, the Teknova employee is active in the Hollister Rotary Club, president of the Chamberlain’s Children Center’s Board of Directors and a former board president of the county’s chamber of commerce.

The man of the year is Gerald McCullough. The lifelong local, now retired, also is a member of Hollister Rotary and has been active since 1972. Among his other activities, he also has served for the local YMCA and United Way chapters and was a founding benefactor for Community Foundation.

Chamber ambassador of the year is Barbara Cosio, a charter member of the ambassadors when the group started in 2000.

Businesses of the year, meanwhile, include the following: She’s Apparel and Shoes for retail business of the year; Schipper Design Plus for service business of the year; Paine’s Restaurant for hospitality business of the year; Swank Farms for agriculture business of the year; and Teknova for manufacturing business of the year.
