Six homes were evacuated Thursday morning after a third-party contractor hit a four-inch gas line, according to a spokeswoman from Pacific Gas & Electric.
“There weren’t any injuries reported,” said Mayra Tostado, a spokeswoman for PG&E.
The flow of gas was stopped around 9:51 a.m., she said. The contractors were supposed to use a vacuum truck but that wasn’t working so they improvised and that caused the leak, Tostado said.
One of the things PG&E wishes to remind contractors, homeowners and anyone planning to dig a hole big or small is that they should call 811 so that appropriate utilities can come out and mark the underground lines, she said.
