New pastor joins Trinity Lutheran
The Rev. Matthew Prasek arrives today as the new pastor for Trinity Lutheran Church in Hollister.
Prasek will preside at services for the first time this Sunday, Jan. 28, and will be formally installed at 9 a.m. on Feb. 18 at the Airline Highway church.
Prasek grew up on a family farm in Mound City, SD, and attended South Dakota State University, where he earned bachelor’s degrees in journalism and religion and philosophy in 2001. After a brief hiatus, he entered the Luther Theological Seminary in St. Paul, Minn., and completed his master of divinity degree in 2006.
Prasek completed an internship at Central Lutheran Church in Everett, Wash., near Seattle. While there, he met Corrie Hudson, and the two were married on Oct. 15 last year.
Prasek comes by his vocation naturally. His uncle, the Rev. Ronald Prasek, is senior pastor at World of Peace Lutheran Church in Rogers, Minn.
Trinity Lutheran’s interim pastor for three-and-a-half years has been the Rev. Frank Starkey of King City.
“Pastor Starkey has been a tremendous blessing to our congregation during this interim period,” said congregational President Ruben Rios. “He has prepared us for the new and exciting ministry at Trinity as we welcome Pastor Prasek to our church.”
