Hollister – The San Benito County Board of Supervisors approved the addition of three new staff members at the San Benito Free Library on Tuesday.

The new positions include a full-time reference and adult services librarian, a half-time librarian focused on children’s programming and outreach, and a part-time library assistant.

According to a report from county staff, San Benito has the smallest staff of any library serving populations between 50,000 and 70,000 people.

Before the vote, County Librarian Nora Conte said the additional help will allow librarians to devote more energy to bringing library activities and books into the community.
