Western history thrives at the Saddle Horse Show and Rodeo
With the skies clear and the temperatures heating up Bolado Park, the 74th Annual San Benito County Saddle Horse Show and Rodeo entertained thousands this past weekend.
Many residents of San Benito saddled up their horses and bulls to take part in many of the events such as bull riding, tiedown roping, barrel racing and bronc riding. The local rodeo is unique, because it is only open to area residents and property owners. Youngsters walked away with ribbons and trophies while most veterans of the show came as they have for many years, just to enjoy the atmosphere with friends and family. From the grand entry parade before each show to the wild horse race, this year’s rodeo will brand memories for all who attended and keep them coming back each year.
These photos depict generations of participants and volunteers who are the soul of San Benito County, people who help bring one of the greatest annual events in the region to life.
