It’s time to wave the white flag. The Giants need to invest in
their future by trading some of the older, more expensive veterans
for some younger, cheaper talent. Trading the older guys will give
the rookies some much needed playing time.

It’s time to wave the white flag. The Giants need to invest in their future by trading some of the older, more expensive veterans for some younger, cheaper talent. Trading the older guys will give the rookies some much needed playing time.
A lot of baseball followers feel it would do the organization a lot of good to start rebuilding for the post-Bonds era. This should begin now, because most people believe the Giants and Bonds will part ways after this year, whether he continues playing baseball or not.
Another indication that the Giants’ season is over – across the bay the Oakland A’s have already given up and traded veteran catcher Jason Kendall. They are planning to unload more players, and the A’s are almost ten games better than the Giants. So the question is why have the Giants not started their fire-sale?
For those fans who love the Giants and won’t know what to do the rest of the year, I have a suggestion. Head over to Municipal Stadium in San Jose and watch the San Jose Giants play a game or two.
Why, you might ask? Because you can see a more exciting game of baseball for a third of the price as a ticket to go see one of the worst teams in the National League.
As a kid, I went to San Jose Giants games with my uncle all the time. Because I was young, I was gullible as well. When my Uncle Mark told me they were the real Giants and not the minor league Giants playing, I believed him. But looking back on it, I don’t care that he tricked me because baseball is baseball.
This is the main reason why Giants fans should not mind attending a few minor league games in San Jose.
If you are a fan of the game and a fan of the Giants, you would not mind taking a seat in the cheap bleachers to watch the future of the organization.
I mean, what’s not to like about it?
The tickets are cheaper; you’re closer to the field than at AT&T Park, San Jose is much closer than San Francisco for those of us in the boondocks of San Benito County, and to put it bluntly, the San Jose Giants are actually a winning baseball team.
The single-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants won the division in the first half of their season, guaranteeing the team a spot in the California League playoffs.
To tell you the truth, sometimes the games at the minor league level are much more entertaining than in ‘The Show.’
I would rather sit down on metal bleachers and watch a competitive minor league game than go to beautiful AT&T Park and watch the San Francisco Giants get massacred all the time.
The environment the San Jose Giants and Municipal Stadium provide is very suitable to children. I remember going to games and having more fun there than I did at Candlestick Park, the former home of the San Francisco Giants.
My uncle and I would go to the games; I would get a cheap program, a ticket to the Guess-Your-Speed Pitching pen, and a soda. After that I was set for the night.
Recently, Municipal Stadium added a Kids Zone, providing more entertainment for the kids. The Kids Zone features activities such as a speed pitch, a bounce house, and T-ball. The team now has a mascot that attends every game as well.
Yeah, the San Francisco Giants are down in the dumps this year, but we shouldn’t be crying about it.
What we need to do is hope that the organization changes their MO and takes the correct steps to fix the problem at hand by trading away experience for youth.
In the mean time – sit your butt down on the cold, metal bleachers and enjoy a cheap, entertaining game of San Jose Giants minor league baseball.
