Nicholas Blanchard married Lisa Stelzer on June 17 in an outdoor
ceremony at the Sedona Golf Resort in Sedona, Arizona with a
backdrop of the beautiful Red Rock mountains. Family and friends
attended the ceremony which included personal vows and a
sand-pouring ritual to signify the joining of the two.

Nicholas Blanchard married Lisa Stelzer on June 17 in an outdoor ceremony at the Sedona Golf Resort in Sedona, Arizona with a backdrop of the beautiful Red Rock mountains. Family and friends attended the ceremony which included personal vows and a sand-pouring ritual to signify the joining of the two.
Lisa’s sister, Amy Stelzer of Wisconsin Rapids, WI., was the maid of honor and the best man was Nick’s longtime friend Idress Coffey, of Morgan Hill. The groomsmen were Brian Maxwell and Nick’s brother Travis Blanchard. Nick, Idress, Bryan and Travis are all graduates of Live Oak High School.
Nicholas is the son of Debbie and Gerry Blanchard of San Martin. Lisa is the daughter of Jerry and Deb Stelzer of Wisconsin Rapids, WI.
BIRTHS
Ava Rose Sonne was born Sept. 21, 2007 at Community Hospital of Los Gatos to parents Jason and Wendy Sonne of Gilroy. She weighed 7 pounds.
Emma Jayne Lima
Emma Jayne Lima was born Oct. 3, 2007 at Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville, N.C. to parents Heather and Daniel Lima of Greenville (and grandma Celeste Marentis, from Hollister). She weighed 6 pounds, 2 ounces.
HONORS
Robert Neal
Robert D. Neal has entered Basic Cadet Training at the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo., in preparation to enter the first academic year at the academy. The six-week, two-phased orientation program must be successfully completed by the cadets prior to entering their freshman year. The training prepares men and women to meet the rigorous mental and physical challenges experienced by new cadets.
He is the son of Daniel and Barbara Neal of Morgan Hill and a 2007 graduate of Live Oak High School.
Nicholas Weichers
Army National Guard Pvt. Nicholas E. Weichers has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field training exercises.
He is the son of Patricia Weichers of El Cajon and brother of Christina Strickland of Gilroy.
Andrea Walton
Andrea Walton graduated from the U.S. Marine Corps Officer Candidate School on Aug. 17, 2007. It was the second of two six-week sessions she was required to attend. OCS strives to teach candidates the core values of honor, courage and commitment.
Andrea is the daughter of Karol Roy and is a 2004 graduate of San Benito High School, where she participated in the first two years of the NJROTC program, holding the rank of commanding officer. She is currently a senior cadet at Virginia Military Institute where she is majoring in French and minoring in business and international studies. She will be studying abroad this fall at Ecole Polytechnique in Palisseau, France, then will return to VMI for her final semster. She will graduate in May and commission into the U.S.M.C. as a 2nd lieutenant.
Gregory Tomlinson
Based on his performance in Westmont College’s competitive auditions, San Martin resident Gregory Tomlinson, a 2007 graduate of Monte Vista Christian School in Watsonville, has been accepted into the Westmont College Wind Ensemble this fall. Westmont College is located in Santa Barbara, and has an enrollment of 1,200 students.
One of only 15 students admitted to the select group, Tomlinson will play oboe.
While at Monte Vista, Tomlinson played oboe and clarinet in the Honor Band, as well as bassoon and viola in the Advanced Orchestra and the String Octet.
John Lafaver
Army National Guard Spec. John H. Lafaver has been mobilized and activated for a future deployment to an undisclosed overseas location in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Operation Iraqi Freedom is the official name given to military operations involving members of the U.S. armed forces and coalition forces participating in efforts to free and secure Iraq.
The specialist is a military police member normally assigned to the 1st Battalion, 143rd Field Artillery, in Hanford, Calif. He has served in the military for three years.
He is the son of Dennis R. and Kathy L. Lafaver of Hollister and a 2004 graduate of Calvary Christian School, Hollister.
Luka Musich
Luka Musich, Troop 700 Morgan Hill, has performed all requirements for and was awarded the highest Boy Scout rank of Eagle. Luka began as a Cub Scout in 3rd grade. In addition to completing all requirements for each rank of Scouting, as his Eagle project, Luka organized and collected 2,000 pounds of canned food for Reach Out Food Bank of Morgan Hill. Luka is grateful for the help of his troop members, and leaders Mrs. Larice, Mr. Fast, Mr. Weightman, Mr. Crompton, and Mr. Wahl and the Thomas family. He is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Charles Musich of Morgan Hill.
