Jorge Hernandez defeated his opponent in the title bout at the Central California Silver Glove Championships earlier this month, and will advance to the state competition in December.

Hernandez, a member of the Bull Dog Boxing Gym in Hollister, won the championship bout at 145 pounds, defeating his opponent from the Via Con Dios Boxing Gym in Tulare.

“He looked very good,” said Zeke Lopez, owner and trainer at Bull Dog. “He just ate him up alive.”

Lopez took four of his wrestlers to the Central California Silver Glove Championships, including Noe Lopez, and Matthew and Phillip Bribiescas.

The tournament was held in Clovis on Nov. 3.

With title in hand, Hernandez advances to the Silver Glove State Championships in Long Beach on Dec. 1. A win there for Hernandez will push the 145-pounder to the national competition held in Kansas City, Mo.

“Jorge is ready,” Lopez said.
