Editor,

It’s been almost four years since Hollister In Black started its vigil at Fourth and San Benito streets. That was before our government had begun to prepare us for war in Iraq – at that time we were only involved militarily in Afghanistan.

Hollister In Black continues to believe that how we travel determines where we go, and that nonviolence (which is what we expect and demand of gangs, children in school and Palestinians among others) is the path to peace. We are convinced that war won’t – can’t – ever put an end to war.

We do feel, however, that after all this time we could use a change of scene. We’re not abandoning the vigil. We’re just taking it on the road, also to speak. Beginning Friday, March 3, we will be moving our vigil to other locations around town. We’ll also come back to Fourth and San Benito from time to time.

Look for us on a corner near you!
