Covina, was airlifted to a San Jose trauma center but has been
released from the hospital.

The 2005 Hino delivery truck, which was carrying food products, was traveling west on Hwy. 152 between the Don Pacheco Y and San Felipe Road at about 9: 18 a.m. when for an unknown reason Yu’s vehicle crossed over the centerline and sideswiped an eastbound Freightliner truck tractor and then head-on into the eastbound 1999 Toyota 4-Runner carrying the four family members, according to an initial report by the California Highway Patrol and a Pinnacle reporter on the scene.
The impact pushed the 4-Runner backward and down an embankment on the south side of the roadway where both vehicles became fully engulfed with fire.
The driver of the Freightliner, as well as the driver of a Suburban that was hit by flying debris, were not injured.
The CHP rolled its Major Accident Investigation Team, which shut down Hwy. 152 in both directions for about eight hours while officers conducted the investigation. The highway did not reopen until 6:05 p.m., forcing westbound traffic to take Hwy. 156 and eastbound traffic to take San Felipe Road to Shore Road and then to Hwy. 25.
