It’s fair week in South County
– finally! And with the fair came a big heat wave. We were right
at 100 degrees on Mother’s Day. It was hot out here!
As usual, we spent my Mother’s Day getting ready for the fair.
The kids had to take in their 4-H exhibits, start setting up their
pigpens and continue washing and clipping their pigs. While at the
fairgrounds, I noticed that I wasn’t the only Mom in there on
our
”
day off
”
. Lots of Moms were in there helping their kids. After all,
that’s what we do, we are Moms!
It’s fair week in South County – finally! And with the fair came a big heat wave. We were right at 100 degrees on Mother’s Day. It was hot out here!
As usual, we spent my Mother’s Day getting ready for the fair. The kids had to take in their 4-H exhibits, start setting up their pigpens and continue washing and clipping their pigs. While at the fairgrounds, I noticed that I wasn’t the only Mom in there on our “day off”. Lots of Moms were in there helping their kids. After all, that’s what we do, we are Moms!
Since I had my pre-fair “meltdown” over a week ago due to underweight pigs and too many baseball games, I think I’m fully prepared and feeling stress free about the fair. The pigs will weigh what they weigh, regardless, and baseball season is just about over. Whew! What a busy time of year!
Birthday wishes go out to Wacey Barrington who celebrated his 8th birthday on May 11. He celebrated by sharing cupcakes with his classmates and pizza later in the night with friends.
We had an interesting week last week (now that I’m writing about it, this may have contributed to my pre-fair meltdown!). A television crew from the TV show “California Country,” was in town doing a story on our wonderful little school out here in Bitterwater and they wanted to focus on one family who has had several generations attend the school. Guess whose family they chose? They spent a couple of days between here and the school filming for their show. The kids had a ball; they felt like real TV stars! They don’t have a viewing date yet, but it should be in about 30 days. It was quite an experience, one the kids will remember forever.
Bill Rist has started a “traveling” church out here in South County. Each Sunday he and wife Robin will travel to a different family’s home and conduct church services and pot luck lunch. They started the first week in May at Tracie Eggleston’s home and on Mother’s Day at their home. They will skip the Sunday of the fair and resume the following week. Anyone and everyone is invited and encouraged to attend. For more information on location and time, please contact Bill or Robin.
I hope you all have a great fair week, and I hope all you Moms had a wonderful Mother’s Day. Give me a call or e-mail me at
